Table of contents

Customize the content and message displayed when a visitor encounters a “Page Not Found” error. A well-designed 404 page can turn a dead end into a helpful experience, reducing your site’s bounce rate. You can find these settings in Appearance > Customize > 404 Page.

404 Page Content #

Configure the text and link for the error message to guide lost visitors back to your main content.

  • 404 Title: Set the main title for the error page. The default is typically “404 Page Not Found”.
  • 404 Subtitle: Add a secondary heading or subtitle to provide more context.
  • 404 Description: Write a helpful description that explains the error in a friendly way and suggests what the user can do next. The default is often something like: “We can’t seem to find the page you’re looking for.”
  • Button Text: Set the text for the call-to-action button that guides users back to a useful page. The default is often “Go to Homepage”.
  • Button Link: Set the URL where the button should link to. This is typically your homepage URL (e.g., https://yourdomain.com).

Important: After configuring these settings, a notice will appear: “Settings have changed, you should save them!” Don’t forget to click the “Publish” or “Save” button to apply your changes.
