The Blogs Widget V3 offers a distinct, often more modern and detailed layout for displaying your blog posts compared to the standard Blogs Widget. It provides enhanced metadata and unique styling options.

Post Settings: #

With the extensive collection of toggles for post elements included in V3, you have exact control over the data that is shown.

  • Column: Set the number of posts per row in the grid.
  • Equal Height: Enable making all postcards the same height. Also, you find an option to set the manual height of it.
  • Image Size: Choose the WordPress image size for the post thumbnail (e.g., Full Original/Mediam/Thumbnail).
  • Post Date: Show or hide the publication date.
  • Post Category: Show or hide the assigned categories.
  • Post Excerpt: Show or hide the short summary text of the post.
  • Post Author: Show or hide the author’s name and byline (e.g., By swarapan).
  • Read More: Show or hide the “Read More” button/link.
  • Read More Text: Customize the text of the “Read More” button (e.g., Read More).
  • Open Link in New Tab: Toggle this on to have the post open in a separate browser tab, keeping your original page open for the user.

Query Settings: #

Control which posts are displayed using standard WordPress query parameters.

  • Source: Select your content type: Posts, Pages, Service, or Portfolio.
  • Posts Per Page: Define how many items to show (Enter -1 for all).
  • Date: Filter posts by timeframes ranging from “Past Day” to “Past Year” or a custom range.
  • Order By: Sort by Date, Title, Menu Order, Modified, Comment Count, or Random.
  • Order: Choose DESC (Descending) or ASC (Ascending).
  • Ignore Sticky Posts: Toggle this on to bypass WordPress’s sticky post functionality.

Style Tab #

The V3 layout-specific styling options are available in the Style tab.

You can style the following parts:

Layout Spacing #

Configure layout spacing row and column gaps.

  • Column Gap: Set the horizontal spacing between individual columns in the grid.
  • Row Gap: Adjust the vertical spacing between rows of post cards.

Content/Card Style #

Configure styles for both Normal and Hover states.

  • Background Type: Choose a classic or gradient background.
  • Padding: Control the internal spacing between the card boundary and the content.
  • Border Radius: Round the corners of the card (e.g., 10px).
  • Box Shadow: Apply and customize a shadow effect for depth.

Title #

  • Color: Set the color for both Normal and Hover states.
  • Typography: Control font family, size, weight, and line height.

Excerpt #

  • Color: Set the text color.
  • Typography: Control the font properties.

Meta #

  • Typography (Global): Style all meta text.
  • Color: Set a global color for meta text.
  • Icon Color: Set a global Icon color for metadata.

Date: Style the date text specifically, including its Background if it’s in a special container. #

  • Typography: Control font family, size, weight, and line height.
  • Color: Set the text color.
  • Background: Set a background for the entire meta area.

Read More #

  • Typography: Control font family, size, weight, and line height.
  • Color: Set the read more text color in normal and hover states.
