Digishift’s pre-built demos provide the perfect starting point, especially if you are new to web design. Importing a demo gives you a complete website structure with pages, content, Elementor modules, and theme settings pre-configured, allowing you to customize rather than build from scratch.
Before You Import: Prerequisites Checklist #
To ensure a successful demo import, please verify the following before starting the process. Importing on a fresh WordPress installation is highly recommended.
- Theme Activation: Your Digishift theme must be activated with a valid purchase code. Navigate
Digishift Studio → Purchase Codeto verify this. The Demo Import menu will not be accessible without activation. - Required Plugins: Install and activate all required plugins listed in
Appearance> Install Plugins. - Other Plugins: Temporarily deactivate any plugins not required by Digishift, especially:
- Caching Plugins (e.g., W3 Total Cache, WP Rocket)
- Maintenance Mode / Coming Soon Plugins
- Security Firewalls
- SEO Plugins (e.g., Yoast SEO, Rank Math)
- You can reactivate these plugins after the import is complete.
Hosting Requirements & PHP Configuration #
Your server environment must meet the following minimum requirements for a successful import:
- Software:
- WordPress 6.5 or higher
- PHP 8.0 or higher
- MySQL 5.6 or higher
- Recommended PHP Settings: To handle high-performance tasks and the Elementor Page Builder smoothly, we recommend the following PHP configuration. You can usually adjust these via your hosting control panel (cPanel/Plesk) or by contacting your host support.
max_execution_time: 400memory_limit: 256M (Ensures stability for Elementor and DigiShift Core)post_max_size: 32Mupload_max_filesize: 32Mmax_input_vars: 2000 (Recommended for large menus and theme options)
Verifying Your Environment : #
You can verify if your server meets Digishift’s recommended standards by checking your WordPress dashboard:
- Navigate to Tools > Site Health.
- Select the Info tab.
- Click on the Server dropdown to see your current PHP version and limits.
How to Import a Demo #
Once all prerequisites are met, follow these steps:
- Navigate: In your WordPress dashboard, go to Digishift Studio → Demo Import.
- Select: Browse the available demo layouts and click the “Import” button on the demo you wish to install.
- Wait: The import process may take several minutes. Do not close your browser during this time.
Troubleshooting Failed Imports #
If the import stalls or fails, it is almost always due to server PHP limits.
- Contact Your Host: Share the recommended PHP configuration values above with your hosting provider and ask them to increase your limits.
- Verify Settings: You can check your current PHP limits by installing a plugin like “WordPress PHP Info“.
- Check Error Logs: Ask your host for the PHP error log; it will contain the specific error causing the failure.
